CROSSES

Because the Mexican culture is so deeply steeped in Roman Catholicism, a lot of Mexican folk art is religious. There are many, many very creative and beautiful crosses created in Mexico. The ones here that are painted with flowers are done by the artist David from the Guanajuato area. There is also an outstanding cross by the well-known Oaxacan clay artist Demetrio Garcia, son of Josefina Aguilar.
