Janelle Duplechin, "The Kaa- Jan- Gipsee,"
grew up in Southern Louisiana near Lafayette.
She spent years producing traditional handmade dolls. A few years ago, she began creating the outsider art that has been in her head for years. Inspired by her exposure to Black-American and Spanish traditions and the bright colors in the clothing and environment of South Louisiana, her work reflects her amazing creativity and sense of color.
